Jerry Falwell

I never met Jerry Falwell, but I always wanted to.

He was a Man of God. He was a Visionary. He was used of God. He was hated by the left and criticized by the right. But he stayed true to his calling. He loved the Bible and he loved souls.

If I could accomplish just one-tenth of what this man did for the glory of God I would consider myself to have been exceedingly blessed.

It is time for great visionary men of faith to rise up and claim the next generation for Christ and become champions for Christ. Where are they?

I see the abuse that Bro. Falwell has been taking after his death as a good indication of how much he really did for the Kingdom of God. Jesus said if we were truly His disciples then the world would hate us. As for the last question about where are the visionaries, that was probably best answered in the post about where have the preacher boys gone.

There are some out there...they are just in other denominations, but God is using them regardless!

Yes there are visionaries out there and yes, we even have many in the ABA, but all too often their voices are quieted by the call of the status quo. It is hard to walk alone, to stand out and to try something that si not wrong in it self other than it is new. Or, for those that have the notion that the ABA are the only scriptural churches, they have the impression that if non ABA churches are doing it, then it is not good. Pastor Smith was a visionary especailly when it came to race and I am sure he took a lot of heat for it that he bore secretly. There are others like him and this new generation of young preachers are less tied by the desire to not cause waves, they see the both the good and the bad of the ABA, man y are determined to make the good better and stop the slowing effect of the bad.
