Door-to-Door Outreach

Recently the North American Mission Board released some interesting statistics. It indicated that people that 40% of the most unchurched are favorable to someone knocking on their door and inviting them to church.

"--many people are open to an invitation to your church and some are open to hearing about heaven. Even 40 percent of the most unchurched are open to an invitation to your church, which is something that the whole church can do-- something that's much less scary for the typical believer and takes less training. It is helpful to know that many people are open to a church event invitation where, perhaps, they can hear the gospel in an understandable way. Imagine how many more houses your church group could visit if every person could be convinced to make one visit and one simple invitation." Ed Stetzer blog.

Going door-to-door is a very effective outreach. It still works in most places. We have used it for six months here at Greater Heights and we have seen 17 souls saved and increased church attendance. Some are awaiting baptism right now.

I pray constantly that our ABA churches would awaken to this marvelous opportunity to reach their neighborhoods for Christ.

Would hanging door knockers get the same or close to the same results? I can get 2 or 3 members to do that but its harder to get them to actually knock.

Anything is better than nothing! If people are comfortable with putting out flyers or door-hangers go for it. Do it in a great abundance. Hand out thousands and thousands. But do it. However, if you can get some to do the opinion poll then you will start seeing souls saved.

Bro. Wes,

Take the lead and have someone go with you and show them how easy the opinion poll is. I did it in Houston with Charlie and was amazed at how easy it is. There is comfort in having a partner. Even more helpful if the partner is the pastor and is comfortable with it but I agree with Bro. David, anything is better than nothing. Just my thoughts for what they are worth.

My personal opinion is that many people used to do this but when culture changed they did not change their approach. I am all for door to door outreach and do it often but presentation and approach are everything.

I am happy great Baptist gospel tellers are knoking doors in U.S.A.

Japanese is very shy and hesitate to open the door.

I have the experience when I asked the large buiding security guardman to let me in to bring Christmas tracts.Amasingly 99% did let me inside.

It is one season Japanese will open doors for gospel.

No stop is important,I think...

I think that putting out flyers works as a great way to introduce someone to the 'door-to-door' experience. Another great place to go that most people forget about are apartments- So many people in a small area! Also, if you have college students in the congregation who are willing, the dorms are also a great place to put up flyers on bulletins
