Does God Bless Unscriptural Churches?

Wow, what a question! I believe that He does bless unscriptural churches (that preach the gospel of salvation). You know why? Because God blesses obedience to His Word no matter who it is.

Some of us have denigrated churches that do not believe doctrinally what we believe. Sometimes it is not even about doctrine but about practice. We tend to put all groups, churches, and individuals in the same category of being 'unscriptural' simply because we don't agree with them. And that may or may not be the right thing to do.

But one thing comes out loud and clear: There are some churches that, although they are not 'scriptural' to our way of thinking, that are seeing many people having genuine experiences of salvation. Why is that? Because they are obedient in outreach evangelsim. They may not be 'scriptural' but they are 'obedient' to tell the gospel story to whomever they can.

Go figure! We have dropped the ball and it is time to pick it up and run like our lives depend upon it. We too can see God's great blessings upon us if we will be obedient to be witnesses for Him and go evangelize.

Well the Lord used evil kings in the Old Testament to do His will. Definitaly not a stretch to have Him use a church that doesn't teach everything right to bring others to salvation. I have often wondered who is going to answer the most in eternity. The church that has the wrong teaching on Church Doctrine or the one that teaches in it's walls the truth of Church Doctrine but never goes outside to do the Great Commission.

What do you consider to be important as far as scripturality goes? Is preaching the gospel the only thing that matters?

bro. wes...along the lines of your comment it seems that in Revelation the only church that was threatened with the removal of the candlestick was the church at Ephesus which was commended for its doctrinal purity but had left its first love and its first works.

My point is that God seems to be blessing unscriptural churches that are actively engaged in evangelism more than he is our scriptural Landmark Missionary Baptist Churches that have not engaged in evangelsim.

Therefore, If God is blessing unscriptural churches that practice evngelism I wonder how much more he would bless our churches if they would get serious about evangelism.

Perhaps instead of saying that God blesses unscriptural churches, could it be that God blesses His Word and the spreading of His gospel? Maybe there's no difference.

Either way, your point is well taken - where the gospel is not being shared and people are not being saved churches are suffering. We have much work to do.

Younglandmarker, I believe that the Doctrine of the Church is very important. I have a series of teaching going on our churches web site so anyone can see what I believe on that subject. I believe the truths of Landmark Baptist's are important. I also believe that the Preaching of the Gospel needs to be put in the front because without the Gospel how is the rest going to help when they are in hell. I know that just as there are only local churches in this world, a lot of our churches will answer for not keeping the Great Commission given to them.
